Sean Sayers: Well, I think it's a very important topic at the present time, and it also fits in with the theme of the Congress, which is “Marxism and Modernization”, as I recall. The importance of the topic, especially with the importance of environmental issues now, there's been quite a lot of skepticism and doubt about the idea that industrial development, economic development is a good thing, and that's a very fundamental part of Marxism. I'm trying to answer some of those doubts and problems and show how Marxism is a philosophy of economic and the benefits of that.

Sean Sayers: I think it's very significant. I'm very much welcome it. And I think this initiative that Peking University is taking to bring Marx’s scholars from all over the world together, is a very important way of encouraging Marxist thought and Marxist ideas. So, I strongly welcome it. And my only regret is that I can't be there in person to participate, because it makes a great deal of difference, I think, in a conference to be there in person. But anyway, this is second best.
